This Tuesday, June 1, during the draw for the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 ™, held at FIFA headquarters, the fate of the 24 participants will be in the hands of Kike, futsal legend, and Edgaras Lithuanian football legend Jankauskas.

Kike, two-time futsal world champion with Spain (2000 and 2004), and Edgaras Jankauskas, the first Lithuanian footballer to win the Champions League, in 2004, will assist in the draw scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at FIFA headquarters , in Zurich (Switzerland).

“The Futsal World Cup is the flagship event for the best futsal players on the planet. I also have fond memories of the four editions I played with Spain, in particular those that I played with Spain. we won in 2000 and 2004. The 24 teams qualified for Lithuania 2021 are already known. The last two countries to stamp their ticket were Thailand and Vietnam, which emerged victorious from their play-off on May 25.

On the basis of a ranking determined according to past sporting performances, the 24 qualified selections were divided into four hats of six teams:

  • Hat 1 : Lithuania, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, RFU *, Portugal
  • Hat 2 : RI Iran, Paraguay, Egypt, Costa Rica, Thailand, Czech Republic
  • Hat 3 : Solomon Islands, Japan, Guatemala, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Panama
  • Hat 4 : Morocco, Vietnam, United States, Uzbekistan, Angola, Venezuela

The Lithuanian hosts, who will play their very first FIFA competition in the process, will be given the A1 position and enter into contention in Kaunas.

The raffle ceremony will be broadcast live on the channel YouTube FIFA to allow all participants to follow the ceremony from home.

The 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup ™ will be played in Kaunas, Vilnius and Klaipėda from 12 September. The winner will lift the trophy on October 3 at the Kaunas Arena. This is the first FIFA event hosted by Lithuania.
