With the support of Concacaf, FIFA provided recommendations to the member associations of the confederation for the upcoming qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 ™.
The program for the first qualifying round in Concacaf covers 30 teams, which are due to play two matches between 24 and 31 March.
In recent weeks, FIFA has organized virtual seminars with all member associations to ensure that they are aware of the regulations applicable in the context of Covid-19, in particular with regard to the provision of players and the possibility of playing matches on neutral ground according to the quarantine measures in force in certain countries.
Due to the unique and difficult context facing the whole world, FIFA regulations allow member associations to request that an official match take place on neutral ground, provided that it is relocated within the same confederation and that certain other criteria be met.
Following discussions between FIFA and member associations, the updated Concacaf qualifying match schedule for the 2022 World Cup is as follows:
FIFA and the member associations of Concacaf will continue to work, with the support of the latter, to ensure that the health and safety of players, teams, referees and all stakeholders are the top priority during these matches.
