The FIFA Referees Committee has unveiled the list of referees who will officiate in Qatar for the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup ™.
Seven referees and twelve assistant referees have been selected for this tournament. FIFA has also appointed seven additional referees who will officiate as video assistant referees during the competition.
The presence of a women’s trio led by Edina Alves Batista confirms the trend inaugurated at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. In India, the Swiss Esther Staubli led a meeting, imitated two years later by the Uruguayan Claudia Umpierrez on the occasion of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019.
The selected referees will make their final preparations in Qatar during the week preceding the start of the event. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, FIFA and the host country undertake to take the necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of all players in the competition.
The detailed competition schedule is available here. The draw for the various posters will take place in Zurich on January 19 at 4 p.m. (CET).
The 2020 FIFA Club World Cup Qatar ™ takes place in Doha from February 1-11, 2021. The final will take place at Education City Stadium on February 11.
