“The 2007 UEFA Champions League will undoubtedly go down as one of the biggest competitions I have won with AC Milan. This success has also opened the doors to the Club World Cup for us. “In 2007, we faced Boca Juniors in the final, a formidable opponent. The Argentines are never easy to maneuver, but we were perfectly prepared. We won 4-2, after a spectacular game.”

Participations : 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 (Al Ahly)
Best performance : third (2006)

“The Club World Cup is an important tournament. For me it is even the most prestigious club competition, because only the six continental champions have the right to take part. For the players, it is a kind reward, after the efforts made the previous season. The CAF Champions League is a very difficult and demanding tournament. Travel is often long and complicated to manage. “

“To access the Club World Cup, you have to make enormous sacrifices. But the game is worth the candle because this competition is an opportunity to discover a new environment, playing matches of very high level.”

“I am proud to have played in 11 matches in five editions of the Club World Cup. My experiences with Al Ahly are so many unforgettable memories.”

“My first appearance was in 2005 in Japan. Our start was not easy. The circumstances were very unusual and we lost both of our matches. We finished sixth, but we learned some lessons that were very useful the following year. We came very close to reaching the final, but the Internacional Brazilians took advantage of a mistake on our part to win the semi-final. We still got on the third step of the podium, after beating Club América. This is probably my best memory, because we really came close to the feat. This match remains a special memory for us and I am sure it has remained engraved in the memory of Al Ahly supporters. “

“I am happy to see my former club in the Club World Cup again. It is a very good opportunity for our players to get to grips with a tournament of this level which, moreover, will take place in an Arab country. supporters in Egypt as well as our many fans in Qatar, I hope Al Ahly achieves great things. “

Xavi Hernandez

Participations : 2006, 2009, 2011 (Barcelona)
Best performance : winner (2009, 2011)
Individual awards : Ballon de Bronze (2009), Ballon d’Argent (2011)

“In 2011, however, we largely dominated Santos in the final (4-0). I have fond memories of this match. Not only because of my goal and the final score, but especially because of our collective performance, which was excellent. Santos had a great team, with players like Ganso and Neymar, but we had an exceptional generation, led by Pep Guardiola. This final has a special flavor for me and I always look back on it with pleasure. “

“I also had the chance to participate in the Club World Cup as coach of Al Sadd, during the 2019 edition. We were proud to represent Qatari football in this prestigious event. , we delivered good performances. We beat Hienghène Sport in the first round, before pushing Monterrey to its limits. I think the players have benefited greatly from this experience. “

“I know Qatar is looking forward to hosting the Club World Cup again, especially as this edition will also be an opportunity to give fans a glimpse of what to expect in just under two years , with the World Cup. “
